It’s official. Park City Mountain Resort is now the largest ski resort in the United States. The opening of the Quicksilver Gondola put the finishing touches on $50 million in on-mountain improvements over the past 8 months. We had a chance to ride the Gondola on opening day, linking us from the new Miners Camp lodge at the Park City Base Area over to the Iron Mountain Express and Dreamcatcher areas of the Canyons Village. A quick nine minute ride now combines¬†two world class resorts into one. Here is the trip summed up in a few photos:

Heading over to the Canyons Village

Some really good terrain up here…

The mid-station of the gondola. Exit here on Pinecone Ridge for ski access back into both sides of the resort.

Looking down on Iron Mountain.

Plenty of options at the base of the gondola. Dreamcatcher, Iron Mountain, or Timberline (pictured here) over towards Tombstone.

A huge benefit for skiers and snowboarders is the access the gondola provides to Pinecone Ridge. Exit at the mid-station and hike up the ridge for MUCH quicker access to some great untracked terrain for days after a storm.

Party in the gondola!

This resort is INSANELY BIG. I cannot imagine only being able to ski here one day. Here’s hoping for a big winter with more snow than we can handle! We look forward to everything else PCMR has to offer this season and in the future. Now get out there and GO HAVE FUN!
